CEC Power Hour | Insourcing Insights: Making the Best Use of Existing Talent and Technology Assets
Although IT outsourcing has been an option for many companies for more than four decades, insourcing or making use of existing internal assets and talent is experiencing a resurgence of sorts as U.S. businesses work to recover from the impact of the pandemic and become more resilient. While outsourcing will still dominate, especially as firms look to expand cloud investments, some level of insourcing is fast becoming a more attractive option to counter disruptions in overseas markets, safeguard intellectual property as cybersecurity risks increase, and reinforce a more dynamic on-premises operational environment.

There are some challenges associated with bringing things in-house, however, including the higher costs associated with onsite staffing and asset improvements, as well as increased vulnerability to cyber incidents due to delays in software and system upgrades. In this session, IT leaders will discuss the pros and cons of insourcing, as well as its viability as a business continuity option during uncertain times. We will be joined by Julie Ouska, CIO/VP, IT at Colorado Community College System and Jason Nairn, Ed.D., CISSP, Vice President of Information Technology and Security, vCIO at Collegis Education.
